Elevate Your Garden This Spring
23 April 2025

Your outdoor space should be an extension of your home, a place to relax, entertain, and enjoy precious moments with friends and family. Whether you’ve got a generous garden or a compact courtyard, a few thoughtful updates can completely transform your patio into a space you’ll love to spend time in.

At Oxford Outdoor Living, we believe that every outdoor area has the potential to be beautiful, practical, and a true reflection of your personal style. Here’s our guide to giving your patio a stylish, functional makeover and making the most of your outdoor space.

1. Define Your Outdoor ‘Zones’

Start by thinking about how you’d like to use your patio. Is it a space for lazy morning coffees, evening entertaining, or alfresco family dinners? Defining zones such as a dining area, a lounge spot, and perhaps a cosy corner for reading or sunbathing, can help you plan your layout and choose the right furniture for each purpose.

Tip: Use outdoor rugs, planters, or lighting to subtly separate these areas and create a sense of flow.

2. Invest in Quality Outdoor Furniture

The right furniture makes all the difference. Choose pieces that balance comfort, durability, and timeless design. From elegant aluminium bistro sets perfect for intimate dinners to luxurious corner lounge sets for bigger gatherings, there’s something for every space and style at Oxford Outdoor Living.

3. Add Warmth with Lighting and Accessories

Outdoor lighting extends the usability of your patio well into the evening while creating a welcoming, atmospheric glow. Combine solar lights, lanterns, and festoon string lights for a layered, inviting effect.

Complement your space with finishing touches like scatter cushions, throws, and outdoor rugs to add texture, colour, and warmth.

4. Incorporate Greenery

Even the smallest outdoor spaces benefit from a touch of nature. Potted plants, hanging baskets, and vertical planters can introduce colour and life to patios of all sizes.

Top choices for patios:

  • Lavender for scent and colour
  • Olive trees for a Mediterranean touch
  • Hardy evergreen shrubs for year-round interest

5. Create a Focal Point

Give your patio character with a standout feature. This could be a fire pit for gathering around on cooler evenings, a statement planter, or even an outdoor mirror to add depth and reflect light.

TEAK SOFA & TABLES

Left to weather naturally, teak will turn from a golden-brown colour to a light silvery grey as the pigments in the surface layer of the wood begin to fade away. This process will take from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the location, and the elements. All of our teak has a natural finish. Buffing brings the natural teak oils to the surface and burnishes the teak to an ultra-smooth surface which has a slight gloss, adding more richness and colour to the teak surface.
